YouTube transcript generator

Transcribe a YouTube video to text

Paste a YouTube link below and SafeScriber turns the video's speech into a text transcript, an AI summary and an MP3 of the audio. It transcribes the audio itself instead of copying YouTube's captions, so it works on videos with missing or messy captions. The audio is processed in memory and deleted as soon as your transcript is ready.

How it works

  1. 01

    Copy the video link

On YouTube, tap Share and then Copy link, or copy the address bar. Short youtu.be links work too.

  2. 02

    Paste it and sign in

Sign in with Google or Microsoft. New accounts get 10 free minutes, no card needed.

  3. 03

    Copy your transcript

Switch between the transcript and the summary, copy either one, or download the audio as an MP3.

Why not just copy YouTube's captions?

  • Plenty of videos have no captions at all, and auto-generated captions often arrive as unpunctuated fragments with timestamps mixed into the text.
  • SafeScriber transcribes the spoken audio with a Whisper-class speech model, so you get punctuated sentences you can quote or paste straight into notes.
  • Every transcript comes with a short AI summary, which is a quick way to decide whether a long video is worth watching in full.
  • An MP3 of the audio is included, so you don't need a separate converter site.

Frequently asked questions

Do you store the video, audio or transcript?

No. The audio is processed in memory, transcribed and deleted immediately. The transcript is sent to your browser and isn't kept on our servers, so copy it before you leave the page.

Does it work if the video has no captions?

Yes. SafeScriber transcribes the spoken audio, so captions aren't needed.

Which videos can I transcribe?

Public and unlisted YouTube videos. Private videos can't be accessed, so they won't work.

How are minutes counted?

By the video's running time, so a 12-minute video uses about 12 minutes. If a video is longer than your balance, you can preview the first part before buying more.

Can I transcribe several videos at once?

Paste one link at a time. For batches, upload the audio or video files instead; you can add up to 20 files in one go.

How much does it cost?

New accounts get 10 free minutes. After that, bundles start at $4.99 for 100 minutes, with 500 minutes for $19.99 and 2,000 minutes for $59.99. There's no subscription and minutes never expire.
