Tips for a more accurate MP3 transcript
- Bitrate matters less than you'd think. Speech models resample audio to 16 kHz mono internally, so a 64 kbps voice MP3 transcribes as well as a 320 kbps one.
- Background music and room echo cost more accuracy than compression does. If you have a voice-only version without the music bed, upload that.
- Crosstalk, where people talk over each other, is the most common source of errors. Recordings with one speaker at a time come out cleanest.
- Very quiet recordings benefit from normalizing the volume in your editor before you upload.

Frequently asked questions
Do you store my MP3 files?
No. Files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after transcription. Transcripts aren't stored on our servers and nothing is used to train models.
What bitrate or sample rate do I need?
Any normal MP3 works. There's no accuracy benefit to re-exporting at a higher bitrate, because the audio is resampled to 16 kHz for transcription.
Can I upload other audio formats?
Yes. M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC and common video formats work too, up to 2 GB per file.
How are minutes counted?
By the length of the audio, not the file size. A 30-minute MP3 uses about 30 minutes.
How much does it cost?
New accounts get 10 free minutes. After that, bundles start at $4.99 for 100 minutes, with 500 minutes for $19.99 and 2,000 minutes for $59.99. There's no subscription and minutes never expire.
